Lets squeeze one more entry before 2009 arrives

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

2008  was a busy  year  and  to  much  for  one  entry.    One dog    that  has not  gotten  the  attention  she  deserves is  Tera.  Tera   lives  in  Hamilton   with a  great handler.  She  turned  3  this  year.    Tera  came  from   a  Chopper  Matilda  breeding  and  I  think  she  was the  first  girl we  held  back.     At  3   shes   really   come  into  her  own. American Bulldogs  make the  cutest  puppies period   hand  down.  They  look  kinda  awkward and  silly   from  4  months to  13  months  and  after   24  you  know  what  you  have.  At   36  months  the American bulldog  is  basically done  growing but females  will put on  some extra  muscle  if they  have  a pregnancy.    Tera   is  now  at  36  months  she  needs  to  get  OFA’d   and  fingers    crossed   she  should  put out  some  killer bully American bulldog  pups.    Were  also  keeping  an  eye  on a Kascha   who  came  from  a  Chopper  and  Chevelle  breeding.   This  dog  has  already  had  her   hips done   and  her handler  is  excited to pair  her  up  with a  nice  boy.   I  like  Kascha   because  shes   her  medium  sized  frame  that  is  packed  with hard  muscle with  great  definition.  her  temperament  is playful loyal  and  attentive.  Shes a great American  bulldog.    i’m  trying to find  her a  mate  right   now  but  because  shes  almost  all white I’m  looking  for a  male  with  lots  of  color  especially  since  her  mom  had  skin  problems.   If you got  a  dog in  mind  send me  some pics  will ya

Well   I  know  i’m   missing  a  half  dozen  points  and    something  else to  but  thats it  for 2008  Have a happy  safe  New  years.

Last day of 2008

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Well    here  we are  on the  morning  before  New  Years  eve. This was a  busy  year  here  at  Steel  City American Bulldog kennel  lots   changed.    We  said  Good  bye  to  Chevelle  who is  now  retired  and  living  Kingston  Ontario,  Jazzy  who  is  doing  awesome  in  her  retirement  how with the  Williams family.  Abe  our  stud  that  gave us  Champion  Steel  City  Bubba  and  US  Champion  Akilla  of  AMK  of  Bully  Rascalz  went down  south to the US  and  is  now  retired also.

At the american bulldog  shows  we  had a tremendous  year .  Bubba  became  a Canadian  champion  and  also  collected  the  most  points over any  other  dog  ” 500  +  dogs”   at the  rare  breeds shows  here in  Ontario.  Another  highlight  was Akilla    who  was  bred  by  AMK  by  using  Abe  our stud  at the  time  and a dog  I  produced  named  Stella  out  of  Chopper  and  Matilda.  Akilla  is a  real   nice american bulldog  I  cant  wait till we  get to take  her  half  sister  Bully  and  half  brother Bubba to the  States see  how  they  do!

We   didnt have  many  litters  year   but    we  did add a  few  new  prospects  to   our  line  up.  Chopper  sired a  litter  with  Kasmire  of  Razors  Edge  and  gave  us  a  little  Chopper  jr ..Chop  jr  has  some  big   shoes to  fill  and  we  got  our  fingers  crossed.    General  George  came  into the  mix .  This dog  is  something  else.   He  was  born   from Chopper  and  Jazzy and  he  was the biggest  boy  in the litter.   People  talk  about big  bonned   BIG  bulldogs,  well  they  haven’t seen  squat.  I’m  around  American Bulldogs  24/7   and  whenever  I  see George I  just  have  to  stare.   HES  AWESOME.  We  picked  a   young adult  female from  a  Jeff Castillo  from California.  Her  name is  Bubbles and  she is an extreme  Bully   this  girl  has lots  to add to  our  program .Wait and  see.    Bully  Fesity  and  Charlie  had  great  year  putting on  solid  lbs  of  muscle  and  developing  perfectly.   These  have  all the  looks, drive  temperament  I  could  ever  want in American Bulldog. They will be  of to  OFA   in  no  time  and  I  cant  wait to  start pairing  them  up.   Especially  big  hope  for my  boy  Steel  city  Charlie  Brown,  his  frame is the  ideal  size  for  my  taste as  far as a  urban  dog  goes.  Hes got great  proportion,  great  bone.  Nice  make  up.  TONNES  of  drive  and  the  heat  doesn’t  bother  him..  Chopper  sr  is  taking it  easy  hes  here on the  couch relaxing.  He retired this  year  but  hes  not going anywhere..  With  all the  heavyweights  coming  up  we decided to  let  him  retire   the  champion  and help  us   look  after the  pack.      Matilda is s till  here  shes got  a  litter  left in her  and  shell  be  up to that  sometime soon.   This  will be her  last litter as  long as our  vet  ok’s  the  pregnancy.   Brookie  or  Brooklyn  as we call her  whelped  a  litter  of four  this year. . Have  to tell you  if  she  wasnt  such a great  dog i dont think i  would  bother  breeding  her  just to  get  4  pups.   If  you  look  at  Charlie  Brown  that  she produced  you ll  understand why I   keep  doing  it.

There is  way to  much  stuff  going  on   here  and  I  have  to  sit  back and  not  get to  excited..  Were  working  with   great  people  we  have  some  serious  kick assamerican bulldog  breeding  for  2009  and  I  cant  wait to  see whats  next.    Make  sure  you  check  out the  updated  site  second  week  of  January  and  check back  soon   for the breeding  that  took  place a  month  ago  between  a  dual  champion  from  Europe  and the  US   to  a  Canadian  Champion  male.

Hero Dog Found in NJ, Chased Burglar from New City Home

Friday, December 19th, 2008

NEW CITY, N.Y. (AP/1010 WINS) — A 1-year-old pit bull mix has been found after she apparently chased an intruder from her family’s New City home on Tuesday.

Kola - a sick 1-year-old black pit bull mix - was found in New Jersey, its owner Mitch Rosen said.

Yesterday a woman found Kola tied to a pole at a Costco and then took her to an animal shelter. Rosen later identified her and took her home.

Rosen said he and his wife entered their home around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and noticed that a window was broken. They also noticed muddy footprints in the house and that Kola was gone.

It appears that the dog chased the intruder out of the house before anything was stolen from the New City home.

Rosen and his family rescued Kola earlier this year after she was seized from a dog-fighting ring in Yonkers.
