Great Dane & Large Breed Rescues -
I’m reaching out for help - this sweet boy needs a rescue/foster/forever home ASAP. Long story short, I intercepted this pup on his way to animal control. I knew his fate if that were to happen, so I’ve taken him into my home on a temporary basis. I work with several rescues across the Carolinas, and I already have 11 dogs in my home (2 permanent, 1 foster, and a litter of 8 who were abandoned with no mother)… Needless to say, I’m in rescue overdrive and desperately searching for help.
Here’s what we know:
- Location: Charlotte, NC
- 2 yr old Male, unaltered, 100 lbs - He will be fully vetted and neutered this Thursday, 4/23/2009
- Great Dane Mix (His previous home thought he was a Boxer/Staffordshire Mix, but after meeting him and having him all weekend, I’m sure he’s mostly Dane with some Boxer/Bully mixed in.)
- 100% Housebroken and crate trained, he’s slept on a dog bed in my bedroom the past 2 nights and does perfect.
- Responds to basic commands: sit, lay-down and stay, and will not run or “bolt” when off-leash.
- Gets along great w/ men/women and dogs of all sizes - NO food or toy aggression.
- He LOVES to play with other dogs, and has clearly been someones pet that they’ve let go. He is a snuggle bug, and thinks he’s a lap dog. =( The poor guy has the ideal doggie personality.
If you have ANY possible foster homes or rescues that might be able to take him into their program, please please please pass this along and point them in my direction. I would be happy to help transport and can foster very temporarily. I realize many of you are far away, but the power of the rescue network can work wonders.
