Federation American Bulldog
LETTER FROM PRESIDENT:
I would like to welcome everyone in the American Bulldog community to Federation
American Bulldog. I am very excited about the upcoming years for our breed and in
the direction that our club is heading. FEDAB has a spot for everyone in the breed
to be as active as they wish. To allow everyone an opinion on the future of our
breed and to promote healthy debate amongst our members. As a club we believe a
mixture of diversity and independent thought to be the only true course our breed’s
future should take.
We currently have programs or have plans to develop programs for all phases of the
American Bulldog. As we mature programs will be added and we will always be looking
for individuals who are interested in getting involved.
Our first big event will be the annual AWDF Championship Breed Team Challenge in
early 2008. FEDAB will be fielding a team this year and we look forward to the
support of the American Bulldog community to cheer our team on to victory.
Sincerely,

What is the best thing that has happened to the American Bulldog breed in years? What has the American Bulldog become a part of that gains the breed international credibility as a working dog and opens opportunities for national and international competition and working championship titles in a variety of venues? Give up? Here’s your answer—The American Working Dog Federation (AWDF)! Still confused? Don’t know what the American Working Dog Federation is? Let us explain: “The American Working Dog Federation was formed in St. Louis, MO, June 17, 1989. The AWDF was organized to develop awareness in the United States of America about the crucial need to provide a broader base to represent the working dog throughout the world and to preserve and protect the heritage of our respective breeds in America.
The common goals of the AWDF member clubs are as follows:
| 1. | To preserve and protect the working heritage of the individual working breeds. |
The AWDF has been competing in FCI World Championships for several years. With FEDAB now a member club of the AWDF, the American Bulldog has an opportunity to compete on an international level and on an even playing field as a pure-breed working dog.
Hmmm…..now you understand that the American Bulldog can finally compete on an even playing field….but in what? This is the best part!! The AWDF has national competitions now or soon to be available in Schutzhund, IPO, Ringsport, Field Trials, Agility, Weight Pulling, Search and Rescue, and much more!
In addition, FEDAB scorebooks are recognized by all other AWDF member clubs! You can now use your FEDAB/AWDF scorebook to trial in any other AWDF member club trial. These are just some of FEDAB’s accomplishments for our breed in the short time we have been AWDF members. Imagine the great things to come!
What is very important to keep in mind here is that each member club of the AWDF is given an opportunity to field a team at every national competition. This means that the best American Bulldogs in the country are now afforded a level playing field for national competition against the best of the best. If you are the best in the country, you will win and go on to compete at the FCI World Championships as part of the AWDF team (comprised of the top-scoring dogs from the AWDF Nationals). This system greatly increases the chances for the American Bulldog to compete internationally and be applauded throughout the world.
***Teams MUST comply with all laws of international countries in order to compete in their countries***
As you can see, FEDAB’s membership in the AWDF is the best thing to happen to the American Bulldog in years. FEDAB is striving to put our breed on the working dog map where it belongs. If you want to have a voice for the working American Bulldog, FEDAB welcomes you to join. With the FEDAB community working together, the American Bulldog will never be ignored again!!
