American Bulldog Puppy Bentham

Hi Kinga & Martin,

We realized yesterday that exactly 1 year ago we came out to pick up our American Bulldog puppy Bentham!

He’s doing great.  We had him weighed at the vet last week and at 14 months he’s 115 Ibs!  He ’s measuring 26″ at the whithers and 24″ around his neck.  Bentham has really started to bulk up over the past few months and his chest is getting really big.  He is such a handsome boy!  Everywhere we go people stop us to meet him.

Personality-wise Bentham is very outgoing.  He still has a lot of puppy exuberance and gets pretty wound up; he is definitely high-energy for an american bulldog!  We’ve done 3 levels of obedience with him and are starting agility.  This summer we moved out to a farm and have 50 acres.  It’s great to have so much space for Bentham to run and play.

In terms of health, Bentham is doing really well, but it’s taken a while to get here.  He was really sick for a long time and no one could tell us exactly what was wrong.  His immune system was really weak and he caught kennel cough twice last winter and developed demodex.  We treated him with Advantage-multi for the mange, but he was still having trouble with rashes, inflammation between his toes, itchy ears, chronic bowel irritation, etc.  Finally we switched vets and our new vet had him tested for allergies right away.  Poor guy has TONS of allergies!  He’s now on a hypo-allergenic kibble (California naturals) and he get injections every 2 weeks.  Things have improved 300 percent since his allergy testing and his mange is totally gone.  He is a very active and healthy guy.  We love him!

best wishes,
Catherine & Christopher
